"Satin" - Silk n' Satin. AHHS #13,599. 1983 Black Hackney pony mare 12 hh.

Satin came to us in 1997 with a 1 week old colt at her side. She wasn't happy about us handling her "kid" but she eventually accepted it. We were told that she'd been a harness pony for approximately 14 years but that she was also started under saddle and ridden.

We didn't know how to drive ponies to a cart, and I had no idea how to hook her up. Robert Bunnell of Parkton, NC took us in hand and showed us the very beginnings of learning to drive. Satin was a handful, but was also fun to drive when you wanted to go fast. The girls started riding her and evenutually all 3 would spend a good deal of time riding her. Once away from the barn, she was an awesome trail mount.

In late 2002, we sold "Satin" bred to "AJ", to the Young family of Fayetteville. Katie Young showed her at a couple of shows and rode her for several months before she was returned to foal out and a new pony went home with them. "Satin" produced two more foals for us before being sold to Jennie in Fuquay Varina.

In all, "Satin" produced 7 foals, 6 of which are mares bred by us. She produced one medium sized bay mare by the Arabian VP Charade and 5 small brown pinto mares by WF Action Jackson.
