Chaunter is a pretty and petite representative of the crosses done by Sheila Varian with her Huckleberry Bey/Bask and Khemosabi sire line crosses. Like these well-known horses, Chaunter has demonstrated a wide area of versatility.

She's made a great show and pleasure mount for our family - I ride her western (in 2005, I was able to take several hunt seat lessons with her) and Skye shows her huntseat and jumping (2000 - 2003). Sierra and Madira have each done some time riding her - at home and out on trails. Larry has even ridden her a time or two. She's been a solid lesson mount for any beginners that come to us.
Chaunter has been a lesson horse for Barnes Paddock (04/05). Since returning home, she's been a pasture pet and a trail riding horse, ridden by the whole family and others who need a mount out on the trail.
In March 07, Chaunter goes to Dr. Dean's farm in Parkton, NC to be bred to ML Mostly Padron on a 3 way partnership. On June 2nd, she's ultrasounded 13 days in foal! She'll be checked again at 30 days. She returns home mid-June 07.
Chaunter has a serious "choke" episode over Veterans' Day weekend (Nov 07) and we haul her down to NSE Vet Clinic to be worked on. Several hours later, the blockage near her esophagus is broken through and then her stomach is pumped and oiled. We return home with pennicillian for the next 10 days, and instructions not to feed her for 48 hours and how to bring her back into eating and up to par. She isn't real happy about the change to her lifestyle! She now wanders in/out of the barn w/ the paddock to herself. When she can start eating "regular" hay again, she spends between 1/2 to 1 hour supervised in one pasture or the other w/ free choice hay. In the meantime, she's getting Timothy & small baled Coastal hay.
She produced a filly (Midnite Millenia) in 98 sired by Desperado V that was the Region 15 Champion Arabian mare as a two year old under the guidance of Ted Carson training at Butler Farms Arabians. "Mille" has gone on to produce 1/2 Arabian Sport Horses and an Arabian filly.
She produced a pinto Sport Pony gelding (SH Kota Blizzard) in 2000 who is becoming Mom's riding pony while waiting for his new home. He's been started under saddle - and rides western and huntseat and is now jumping up to 2'3" fences. He's great fun to ride. Sold in June 07 and now in SC.
She produced an Arabian gelding (LP Ayre Games) in 2001 by VP Charade. "Ari" went to his new home in Mebane, NC in March of 2005.
In January 08, "Chaunter" went down to Dr. Dean's barn in Parkton to foal out. Chaunter produced a filly on Friday April 11, 2008. Dr. Dean says she's big and healthy. Chaunter & Ellon return home on June 1st.
