LP Painted Ponys incorporates a family oriented pony breeding program utilizing the Shetland Pony stallions WF Action Jackson (known as “AJ” to us) and All That Style n' Flash ("Iggy") along with a selected group of Arabian, ½ Arabian mares and Shetland pony mares – Chaunters Ayre, MHF Chealsierra, Atlanta Rhythem, LS Pretty Me, Jazzy Perfection, HNH Star Games, JacksWarriorPrincess, Little Jims Bit of Silver, Little Jims Silver Bell, LP Painted PufNstuf, Magic Place Resida and Wa-Full Koalah's Silver Fluff. “Painted” comes in due to “AJ” being homozygous for the tobiano pinto pattern gene – making all of our resulting pony foals “Painted”. On Jan 27, 2010, "Iggy's" test results came back - he too, can only sire "painted" foals!
LP Painted Ponys is producing pinto Shetland ponies and ½ Arabian pinto sport ponies that can indeed be considered “People Ponies for Pony People”. The youngsters are imprinted at birth. Our ponies are handled daily and checked over. Our family has done most of the handling and training both on the ground and under saddle. They are handled by other families and children when they come to see our ponies, when we take them to bar-B-que &/or Birthday parties and to the girls’ schools. Quite a few of our ponies have now done the Halloween Fairs at 3 different schools. Ponies are hauled to various locations/barns to get used to traveling, drinking/eating away from home and standing tied while things are going on around them.
Our equine veterinarian, Dr. Kim Krivit, DVM, of North Star Equine out of Parkton, NC has taken care of these “painted ponys” (and the solid colored ones too) continuously from April 1997 through April 2009. We also have vet care and support through Southern Oaks Veterinary Hospital (Dr. Dean, DVM) and from Dr. Mattt Frasier, DVM.
